About Justin!

Hello! I’m Justin Comini, a stage manager based in New Jersey and New York City, currently pursuing a BFA in Design and Production with a concentration in stage management at the University of Michigan 💙💛.

With about seven years experience in stage management, I’ve had the chance to work across a range of live entertainment genres, including theater, AEA work sessions, opera, orchestral music festivals, and various events. My experience includes everything from community theater and regional productions to assisting with Broadway load-outs and managing large scale events and galas. This variety has given me a well-rounded perspective on stage management and production. I realized when applying to colleges that I wanted to learn about all of the different production and design elements, in order to to better understand the needs of each of the people I am working with.

Before diving into stage management, I was a performer from the age of six, finding my passion for theater at a local community playhouse where I later returned to work!

Outside of the theater, I love traveling and exploring. In 2021, I traveled through Croatia with a group of 17 students from around the world. I’ve found that the skills used in stage management—like time management, problem-solving, and building connections—are also essential for successful travel. When I need a break, I love hiking in beautiful places like Boulder, CO, to recharge and gain new insights about this big, bright, world!
